"When I first had the idea of recording KARPEH, I took a trip to Seattle to see my Aunt and she had this old tape player they had gotten from my Grandfather who used it mainly for parts in one of his engineering projects. The tape player wasn’t functional anymore but it looked incredible and inspired me to build a world around a model similar to it as a memento for this album. We recorded KARPEH a month later and after I mixed everything, we took those recordings and put each individual song on 15 individual cassette tapes. I then took the tapes back to Seattle with my tape player and made the "Ohio" music video and all the backdrops to each of the songs on the album. There are so many ways that music can be devalued by how quickly it is consumed in this day and age so I felt like recording these 15 individual cassettes would highlight the nuance and depth of the stories in this album.
